I recently read a thought provoking article from callcentrehelper.com on excellent customer service provided by inbound call centers . The author, Paul Cooper, poses the question, “What does toast have in common with customer service?”
If you add jam to customer service, it becomes sweet; if you add beans, it becomes savory. His conclusion: excellent customer service—just like toast—should be neutral.
Plus, customer service can be underdone or overdone. Too many customer service representatives just do their jobs. Instead, they need to go the extra mile to provide a service that’s just right for the customer. Going the extra mile for the unique person on the other end of the phone is what makes customer service excellent customer service.
